On-site inspection / Seizure of counterfeit goods

Combating IP counterfeiting / infringement

On-site inspection/seizure of counterfeit goods is a procedure by which an intellectual property right-holder, such as a patent holder, instructs a bailiff to describe or seize evidence of the nature and scope of any alleged counterfeiting, subject to obtaining an order from a competent judge.

For these on-site inspections/seizures of counterfeit goods procedures to be successful, bailiffs may need to call on the expertise of an intellectual property attorney tasked with assisting them on their client's behalf.

70% of all seizures worldwide are carried out by customs authorities.
