A model offers additional protective support alongside a patent. While the latter protects a product's technical features, a model safeguards its visuals and appearance.

Models apply to all sorts of products, even high-tech ones, as long as their appearance contains design elements (rather than being purely functional) and is new: robots, headsets, electrical connectors, graphic interfaces, etc.
