EORI number mandatory for your Application for Action as from September 2020

News

In September 2020, the Economic Operators Registration and Identification number (EORI) will be compulsory for IP rights holders and their representatives in any step related to application for action by customs authorities: filing of a new application, amendment of a valid application, or extension of an application.

A EORI number issued in a EU member state will be valid in any other EU country. IP rights holders whose registered office is outside the EU shall either inquire internally to know this number, in the event where import/export operations would already take place with Europe, or specify the exact company address so that the customs can find it in their operator reference system. For example, the EORI begins with FRJP for Japanese-based companies and with FRUS for US-based companies.
