At the end of last year, European Commission revealed its Intellectual property action plan in order to support SMEs. This initiative was to encourage them to better protect their inventions & creations. However, the support schemes put forward do not yet fully meet SMEs requirements and some are not really aware about IP rights.

Managing IP, the world’s leading Intellectual Property media, interviewed European IP attorneys to understand the potential of the EU support scheme for SMEs. 

Guylène Kiesel le Cosquer, Managing Partner at Plasseraud IP, comments: “ … few of my clients are aware of the support available. Even when they are, they find it too restrictive. They are locked into deadlines that are not necessarily compatible with their needs, with administrative formalities to be completed that make access complex.”
