Could the career-judge system be beneficial for judicial recruitment in England and Wales? Cyra Nargolwalla comments in Managing IP

The England and Wales High Court is still missing two IP judges. Managing Intellectual Property asked IP practitioners, including Cyra Nargolwalla, co-managing Partner at Plasseraud IP, if the career-judge system adopted in most European countries could be beneficial in England and Wales.

This approach of judges mentored by more experienced colleagues could be a possible solution to the recruitment crisis if this measure is introduced in the right way and takes into account various specific parameters of the profession.

Cyra noted that young judges are highly motivated in France. They obtain their life experience, one of the major criteria of the judicial recruitment in the UK, being in contact with older colleagues.
